I wanted to create a project with a simple yet satisfying main mechanic. Something everyone recognizes and can enjoy.
I was inspired by games such as Raccoin and Balatro which take an existing, proven to be enjoyed, game and itterate and improve upon it.
The core of getting this to feel just right included a lot of playtesting, itterating on feeback and repeating this.
Originally started with AB testing to find if players prefer the controller or mouse input systems.
I added two additional mechanics to add to the gameplay.
The first is being able to open and see the inside messages just like the real life game.
Secondly I added the ability to have your own messages show up and customize your experience.
